The Greenbrier Sporting Club was proud to be a part of the 2008 Taste of our Town (T.O.O.T) fundraising event for Carnegie Hall this past Saturday. Overall the occasion welcomed an estimated 8,000 people to the downtown streets of Lewisburg.
Visitors enjoyed tasty treats from over 60 food vendors, one being our very own Sporting Club, which happily served up Sloppy Joe’s with slaw, cheesecake brownies, colossal cookies and a refreshing pineapple basil elixir.
Each vendor contributed 50 percent of their sales to the ongoing arts and education programs at Carnegie Hall. The Greenbrier Sporting Club was happy to contribute almost $700 to the cause.
Although this was GSC’s first time participating in the event…it certainly won’t be the last. The event was so much fun and successful…it will be on our schedule again for T.O.O.T’s 25th year.
Many thanks go out to our hard-working staff that helped with our booth:
Janet Jarrell-Sulgit, Adona Baker, Bob Tuckwiller, Paul Hanna, Larry Klein, Patrick Mooney, Amy Mills, Andrea Griffith, Frank Paris & Margaret Short.
We also made the news and Larry Klein was quoted: The Register-Herald

Eva and I attended our first T.O.O.T in October. We brought along King, our new dapple miniature dachshund. He was quite a hit in the crowds, all of which helped to socialize him.
We thoroughly enjoy the town and the T.O.O.T was great. We want to commend Lewisburg and the Sporting Club for making the Valley our home away from Washington.
