Hello again from The Snead course. The winter season is ending and spring is right around the corner. The golf course will be open and ready for play this month, however it will most likely be wet at times due to thawing soil and slow water movement. The first mowing and fertilizer applications will be critical to the appearance of the course as the turf begins to grow and fill in again. During the winter months we spent time maintaining the cutting components of the machines and other annual maintenance needs.
Something else we’ve done this winter – we’ve completed all the requirements and have received our certification as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary! This certification shows our commitment to wildlife habitat management on the grounds of the golf course, surrounding streams, ponds, fields and wooded areas. I would like to thank Jim Creasman, Todd Youngblood, Jacob Workman and Outdoor Pursuits Director, Jacob Ott for their input and dedication to helping us gain this certification.
Cooper and I look forward to seeing each of you on the golf course this spring!
