Massage… a wonderful, non-invasive, relaxing and natural treatment. While massage has a multitude of benefits for the body, it can also be extremely taxing, especially if the body is already dealing with major health issues. As massage therapists, we are in an odd situation of being quasi-medical/health care workers: we know and work with the body, and yet are not doctors and cannot diagnose or treat conditions. Hence, we have a medical profile that one must fill out and disclose any and all health issues before receiving massage, body treatments, and/or facials. It is vitally important that we have this information before starting your service.
We recommend arriving 15-30 minutes before your service so this form can be filled out at your leisure.
The following restrictions are in place to protect your health and well-being. Thank you for taking them as seriously as we do.
TOTAL CONTRAINDICATIONS:
When you have any of these conditions, please do not schedule a massage:
• fever
• contagious or infectious diseases, including cold or flu
• under the influence of drugs or alcohol
• recent operations or acute injuries
• skin diseases
LOCAL CONTRAINDICATIONS:
The therapist can massage but not over any areas affected by:
• varicose veins
• undiagnosed lumps or bumps
• bruising, cuts, abrasions
MEDICAL CONTRAINDICATIONS:
If you suffer from any of the following conditions, massage can only take place once it has been approved before your session in writing by your physician:
• cardio-vascular conditions (thrombosis, phlebitis, heart conditions)
• any condition already being treated by a medical practitioner
• high blood pressure
• cancer
• psoriasis or eczema
Massage can be very therapeutic for many medical conditions, however in the above cases it is best to have advice from your physician.
