Over 1,000 Donations Received for Toys for Tots

In keeping with The Greenbrier’s mission to “make a positive difference through active participation, investment and sponsorship, setting the example of extraordinary community stewardship,” the resort recently concluded a successful drive for Toys for Tots. Over 1,000 toys were accepted beginning with the first annual tree lighting on Saturday, December 5th through Friday, December 17th. All toys donated will be distributed to children in Greenbrier County.

“The generosity of our neighbors, guests and employees is phenomenal and I know that next year will be even bigger,” said Jim Justice, owner and chairman of The Greenbrier.

At the center of the Winter Wonderland is a 90 ft. tree, decorated with over 28,000 lights. Other highlights include an 87 ft. long display of Santa’s sleigh and reindeer and dozens of colorful, dancing trees, choreographed to music. A Santa playing basketball and a polar bear golfer are just two of the more whimsical displays. The Springhouse, covered in green and white lights, features a sparkling fountain and Victorian-themed displays. The Greenbrier’s guest houses are adorned in white icicle lights, creating a beautiful perimeter around the lawn.

The holiday extravaganza features numerous animated holiday displays created with LED lights. The light displays are on nightly between 5:00 – 10:00 p.m. through January 3, 2010.
