Last month was our annual Sporting Clays and Wing Shooting Weekend. We hope those of you who were unable to attend will enjoy a taste of it in this video…(sporting clays photos to post soon)
Guy Hubbard remained undefeated at the Sporting Clays range, shooting 84 out of 100 targets. Lewis Whiting walked away a winner too at the 3-Gun Challenge. We also took Members and Guests to do some Wing Shooting at nearby Stoneybrook Plantation.
New GSC Member, Steve Crislip, describes his bird hunt during that weekend:
“As a new Sporting Club member who had never hunted before, I took experienced hunters David Barnette and Roger Osborne of Charleston as my guests on the November 2008 Wings and Clays weekend. The team took fifteen beautiful ring neck pheasants on the trip to Stoneybrook and then had a great day on the Sporting Clays course at the Gun Club the next day. Jacob and Jesse were terrific to me as a rookie hunter and to my guests. Both guests have repeatedly assured me they are available to be guests again next November for the 2009 event. If you have ever given any thought to trying this outdoor sport, I encourage you to try an afternoon out of the Hunt Cabin.”—Steve Crislip, GSC Member
(By the way, Steve cooked his share of the pheasant breasts with wild rice and mushrooms for his family during the Thanksgiving weekend and served them with a nice dry red wine. Everyone but the pheasants had a great time from the weekend.)
