In celebration of creating a new home at The Lewis Theatre, Trillium Performing Arts Collective performed in six locations on Lewisburg First Friday on November 7, 2008.
The event began in the downtown Green Space with Chally Erb “clowning around.” As it got dark, he juggled fire as the children looked on in awe. The next location was at Edith’s where the two dancers, Harmony Kopelov and Areigna Preston, were found in the beautiful oak tree that stands in the middle of the store. Samara Michaelson directed them in a slow languorous dance, balanced high above the stairs, to the song, “Lean on Me”. The next dance was at The Wild Bean where Lorrie Monte performed her piece, “When the Big Trees Fall”. The tree theme ended with the next performances at the Irish Pub, with Jo Weisbrod telling her story, “The Day I Met Space Aliens” and Maggie Putnam sharing her amazing Irish Step Dancing. Moving west to Sailor’s Craft, Carli Mareneck performed with cellist Tony Rogers, an ethereal piece, “Cello Study with Mask.” The final location of the evening was Harmony Ridge Gallery with two pieces. First there was a beautiful duet by Rachel Oliver and Cate Bennett to the music of Steve Reich, and then the night ended with an energetic solo by Laura Deitz Gorsuch, who performed to wild bluegrass music.
The 4 X 4 brought lots of creativity to the downtown, and Trillium hopes to repeat the event again, perhaps when it again becomes warm enough for all to enjoy.
